Uncle O' dropped by @9:49 PM
I realised it's been exactly 2 weeks since I last posted. I shall keep it short and sweet since my fatigue level is like 80% now. Sitting on the couch may spell an immediate fly off to my lala-land. I'll explain to you what's behind this fatigue I am currently feeling while typing this.
070713 - Finally another meet up with P2S1 again. As expected, due to our hectic and busy lives, not all could attend. So it was basically Norman, JJ, Saiful, See Ting and I going town. Plain talking, discussions and walking around to do some back-to-school shopping. To be more precise, See Ting and I were doing back-to-school shopping while the rest, shopping with their eyes only.
Finding the near-perfect school bag for my age is TOUGH. Maybe it isn't, but rather I am too picky with too many considerations. Thought it would be good to buy a red bag, but the rest said it was too 'loud' for me. Combing through ION Orchard, Takashimaya and various retail outlets, I still couldn't find it. Eventually settled with an Adidas bagpack with a unique
light-green. Adorned with brown PVC features, it gave me a 'cool and relaxed' feel. Eventually bought it for $89 (the most expensive bag I have ever bought thus far) though my heart did wrench a little. Nevertheless, I shall take good care of it so that it shall last me for long enough.
I've bought another black leather belt from Levi's. So now my belt colours sum up to 3: Brown, White and Black. Neutral colours as easy complements.
It's been in me where I take quite a while when it comes to decision-making. Not to that extent of taking weeks and months, I do take a while longer than most people do I believe. For instance, I'm frequently one of the last few to decide my order when having meals out with my friends. Another example would be shopping for stuff, which Norman could immediately pointed out when he was following us shopping. Oh well, feeling regretful is something that I do not wish to happen for me when it comes to decision making. When young, I have made decisions which I regret, be it those minute matters or big decisions. Thus, I grew up learning to think before I act, which I think was something good for me because it taught me not to just see things at the surface and make hasty choices. Perhaps I am little more than careful when given alternatives, which cause me to take time considering the various options.
A result of this relatively slow-decision making for me would be able to draw a clear line between need and want, which I feel most people struggle with. Having second thoughts may not be a bad thing after all. I would say after much talking here, the context to which we make decisions would ultimately affect whether one is indecisive or rational. Making big purchases of something we think we need but we actually don't might be something which may be worthwhile to re-look before transaction. Huge decisions in life, which may have serious repercussions in your future would be child-play if decisions were made hastily without considerations.Nevertheless, the other side of this statement would be that we may learn to accept and adapt to that decision we make with time, and probably even grow to like it when we realise what we discover along the way. Be it decisions such as those involving money or one's future, I would say that it's better to really make an informed decision first. Even if it's a wrong move based on your point of view, it may help you to see better of what's your next move and hopefully, you may be able to pave out a path of your own on your life. My 2-cents worth.
Coming back to the outing, lunch at monster curry was great, ending with an sumptuous dinner with great company at Soup Spoon for dinner. Tried this new flavour called Peace, Love and Muscles chowder which I felt was quite good. It definitely feels good to be able to spend time like this talking to friends without any stress from work or school. So gonna miss this kind of life when school starts in Aug.
08-0713 to 100713 - Outward Bound Singapore. My very first OBS course and trip to Pulau Ubin. I must say that my 3D2N there in this little island was not a waste of time. Most of the time, the main takeaway for camps was having fun and enjoyment. Rather, going OBS made me really thought about being a person and my life too, on top of making new friends and new experiences. High elements was not something new, but tri-yaking, land trekking and jetty jumps were new stuff for me. Kayaking in 3 wasn't as easy as kayaking alone, and it definitely had starkly obvious differences. Land trekking was somewhat different albeit route marches in NS, because the land trekking made me feel a little more like an adventurer in the wild, sorry for you to stand that imaginative part of me. Jetty jump was awesome despite the superficial barnacle cuts on my knee. Totally enjoyed every moment as I was jumping down from the jetty. That ambiguity of when you're going to fall into the water really brings excitement.
We had field cooking on the 2nd night in our individual groups. Co-operative much when my groups mates had this silent communication and everything was going all smooth. Silent communication but we didn't cook not talking!
On top of that, throughout the camp, I've learnt to play various meaningful teamwork games which I felt was good, could apply this in the future and make learning more enjoyable.
The learning curve goes steeper when it comes to personal reflections and thoughts. It really made me clearer about the way humans interact with one another and how communication can be so interesting at times.
110713- After driving for so long, I finally got my license!!! Now, with the legal approval of my driving skills, I shall see how it turns out for me in the future. Doubt I would really drive until like a few years later.
190713 to 200713 - Finally went for my CSC camp which got postponed last month due to the haze. Enjoyed it well despite the very low freshie to councillor ratio. The cluedo was really mind-blowing when it comes to the plot and the acting skills of the councillors. Sentosa was great also, though some of the games could be a little lame at times. No sunburnt! Sunblock really works and I'm glad to get tanner without sunburnt. Since my 1 Star kayaking, I have learnt the lesson to apply sunblock lotion to prevent damage and the after-effects without it. My skin on the arms get dry very easily nowadays whenever I am in an air-conditioned room, totally hate that. Last night was great and I have really slept much. It's been so long since I really stayed awake for such a camp. Now it's almost ten, an opportunity for me to turn my body clock back. Had unhealthy meals for the past 2 days, really gasping for a run tomorrow!
Life's gonna get busier next week!
